Our immediate past president ( Dr VP Singh) contributed immensely to the growth of society during his tenure and most importantly he initiated his discussions with government towards Folate Fortification for prevention for Neural tube defects. We shall continue our interactions with government/stakeholders to ensure the implementation of the same as in other parts of the world. We shall be joining hands with our pediatricians , obstetricians and allied specialties to increase awareness on prevention/early treatment of various congenital malformations. Antenatal surgeries for fetal MMC is a reality now , this however needs timely antenatal diagnosis and interventions. We as a society shall not only aim to prevent NTD( neural tube defects) in our population through intensified folate fortification drives but also offer state of the art expertise in delivering antenatal surgeries to the entire nation at various apex institutes of India.

In the field of neurotrauma, we see fall from height ( balconies/rooftops) as a common means of head injury in 1-5 yr. age group. “Safe Balcony Safe Child” awareness is much needed for our country to prevent loss of young lives both for villages to developing high rise buildings across India.

Care of young children. demand continuous dedicated pediatric neurosurgeons who can make right diagnosis, make right plan and execute that plan for safe neurosurgical interventions.  Our newly formed EC members shall reach out to you to take your suggestions/feedbacks on how to improve further pediatric neurosurgery services in India, developing liaising with parent societies across the globe. I feel energized by newly formed Executive committee members this year who will starting them journey with me to walk with you for our common mission “Making our Children Safer and Healthy across the nation”.
